MCA #10 - Saturday morning

The bed Roy woke up in was rather big, but big beds were fun and he wriggled away from the girl sleeping beside him to inspect the heap of kittens lying at the foot of the bed. Dee got up to inspect him back and her whiskers tickles his cheek and nose, making Roy giggle.

"Stop that! It tickles."

"You're wrong," Aly told him flatly. "An' I want breffast."

"Am not!" he argued instantly.

"You're a BOY," Aly argued. "Girls are way smarter."

"Yeah? So what books have you read?" Roy asked stubbornly.

Aly glared. "Books don' make you smart."

"Yes, they do!" Roy said, looking almost shocked that Aly would imply anything else. "You can learn a bunch of things from them!"

"Nuh uh," she argued. "You gotta be smart first! Books jus' got facts."

"You can be smart as much as you want," he told her, "but if you don't read, then you don't know anything!"

"I DO SO!" Aly yelled, scaring Ow off the bed.

"Like?" Roy demanded proof and he wrapped his arms around Dee to keep her from running off too.

Aly tossed her hair. "I know how to get cake whenever I want."

"That's not smart," he rolled his eyes and let go of the kitten as he pushed to stand up on the bed.

She stood up too, her hands on his hips. "Smarter than you!"

"Are not," he argued, crossing his arms.

"Uh huh," Aly told him. "An' you got cooties."

"DO NOT!" he shouted. "You lie!"

Aly jumped on the bed then paused and jumped again.

"'M not a liar!" she argued, overcoming her distraction.

Dee jumped off the bed as well now and Roy tried not to wobble. He kicked at the mattress in response. "That or you're dumb!"

"'M NOT DUMB!" she yelled, launching herself at Roy.

"Meep!" And that would be Roy falling down onto the mattress with an 'umph'. "Get off!"

Aly giggled and rolled off him. "See? Not dumb!"

"How does that prove you're smart?" Roy wanted to know, whining as he was tackled by a girl.

"Got you!" she smirked.

He made a face and decided that ignoring it was the best possible action. So he rolled towards the edge of the bed and jumped off. "I'm getting breakfast."

"I want some!" Aly yelled, jumping off too. "Look! I'm a hero! I can fly!"
