MCA #7 - After noon

Having the day off, Roy was reading through a book on Earth weapons. His chess board was on the dining room table, set up already for a game that he intended to win. He would need his uniform to get cleaned after it got cake on it after all. For now, he was actually wearing slacks and a white shirt. He could do casual.

Roy grinned. "Glad you agree," he said as he placed the king back on the board.

"Well, I can't help but agree when someone is so logical," Aly replied, starting to set her pieces back up so the board was back the way it started.

"I will try to be less so," he promised her. "I know you'd miss arguing too much."

"Awww, you'll inhibit your logic for me?" she teased.

"If it's worth it," he smirked.

"And now you're doubting me," she said with a teasing grin as she started to stand up. "Whatever shall I do?"

He automatically rose from his seat as well. "I'm sure you won't have any trouble convincing me otherwise."

"Quite possibly," she agreed.

Roy grinned and moved around the table to open the door for her. "I might be convinced if you offered to get that uniform cleaned," he tried.

Aly laughed. "Send it out to the cleaners. You'll live."

"You're very cruel," he laughed, his tone and expression teasing.

"Part of my charm," she said with a wink. "Thank you for the game."

"Any time," he told her warmly and opened the door for her. "Careful in the hall."

"Oh, I shall be," she told him, brushing his forearm with her hand as she left. "I hear it's terribly dangerous."

"It's gotten better since the sheriff moved onto the floor," he told her lightly. His hand slipped in his pocket as he stepped into the hall after her, leaving the door behind him open.

"You know, I thought I was just imagining that," she replied, amused, as she opened the door to her apartment. "Good to to see it's not just me."

"I hear he takes his job very seriously," he said amused, noting that she didn't have to unlock her door.

She leaned against the door frame, facing him. "I've heard that too. Some would say too seriously and he ought to sleep more."

Roy laughed. "Strange, I haven't heard that one before."

Aly raised an eyebrow. "Funny. Because I know I've said it to you before."

"Oh wait, now I remember," he smirked at her. "I didn't call you to let you know when I was going to bed, did I? Perhaps I should."

"You didn't," she agreed. "I was almost ready to knock on your door to find out if you were sleeping."

"Why didn't you?" he asked, looking amused at the idea.

"Didn't want to wake you up," she said with a wink.

Roy grinned. "Maybe I wouldn't have minded."
