MCA #7 - After noon

Having the day off, Roy was reading through a book on Earth weapons. His chess board was on the dining room table, set up already for a game that he intended to win. He would need his uniform to get cleaned after it got cake on it after all. For now, he was actually wearing slacks and a white shirt. He could do casual.

"Ah," he didn't reply, and waited for her move before he captured her rook. "So do you own a miniskirt?"

She stared at him and then laughed. "No, I don't."

"Shame," he decided with a smirk.

"Guess I'll have to break that law then," she replied.

"It's the state's duty to make sure everyone is capable of abiding the laws," Roy said, his smirk staying firmly in place.

"Well, if you're making the law, you're the state," Aly pointed out, starting to grin. "You'd better remedy that."

"If you give me your size, I will," he said easily.

She laughed. "What type of question is that? Next thing you'll want to know my age and birth sign."

"Twenty-three," he pointed out and shrugged. "Do you trust me to buy you one not knowing?"

"Well, now I'm interested in finding out if you can do it," she replied with grin.

"I wouldn't refuse a challenge like that," he assured her, looking way too confident about it.

Aly grinned more. "Then I look forward to the results."

"As do I," Roy smirked and moved his queen into the game.

She raised an eyebrow as the queen came in then smirked at the board as she captured his rook. "Are you or do you plan to plot revenge on me for that note?"

"Do you really want an answer to that?" Roy asked.

"Just curious," she said, playing with her glass of orange juice. "It won't affect my actions at all."

"I haven't make up my mind yet," he said honestly.

She grinned. "Hmmm."

"You seem to have enough pranks to deal with as it is," he added with a laugh.

"So you'll act the gentleman and wait until my hands are less full?" she asked, smiling at him.

"Possibly," he smiled back at her. "Or maybe I'd just like your full attention."

She raised an eyebrow, still looking amused. "Think you could capture it?"

"Oh, I know I can," he told her smugly.

Aly studied him for a long moment. "Perhaps you can."

Looking back at the chessboard, she finally moved her queen into play.

The smug look stayed in place a moment longer, until he realised just how much trouble that last move brought him in. The smile faded a little, his eyes moving over the board as he calculated the best move. Finally he moved his other knight forward.
