MCA #7 - After noon

Having the day off, Roy was reading through a book on Earth weapons. His chess board was on the dining room table, set up already for a game that he intended to win. He would need his uniform to get cleaned after it got cake on it after all. For now, he was actually wearing slacks and a white shirt. He could do casual.

"Hmmm," she pretended to consider. "Nope. Shirtless."

"Are you saying that would be your one act you'll suffer the consequences for?" Roy asked curiously while moving his bishop on the board.

Aly grinned. "Not what I said at all. Might be my revenge though."

"I already told you I'm not interested in other guys," Roy reminded her, deliberately misunderstanding.

"You think my revenge would be making you do boykissy?" She laughed and laughed. "Deadpool maybe?"

"Now he does not like me," Roy said, ignoring the laughing.

"Oh? Why not?" she asked.

"It was just a general impression," he waved the question off.

She eyed the game then captured his pawn quickly.

"So what makes you thinks Wade's cranky at you?"

"Just a general impression," he repeated, raising an eyebrow at her. He still wasn't sure how to classify his conversation with the mercenary. "I usually know when someone doesn't like me." Not that the feeling was entirely one-sided.

"I have to tell you something," she said, smiling at him.

He raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"

"Wade's pretty much batshit insane," Aly said. "It may be a surprise given his general demeanor, but it's true."

Roy considered Deadpool's behaviour at the wedding shower. "No, not exactly a surprise."

She threw him a wink. "Not a bad kind of insane though."

"Said the woman who was wearing cake. Again," he teased and moved his rook.

Aly frowned. "You're right. I'm going to kill him."

Roy laughed. "Should I ask for a statement now or later?"

"Oh! No need," she said with an innocent face. "You won't have any troubles at all."

"Is that a promise?" he checked.

"Absolutely," she told him, moving her knight into the center of the board.

The move made him focus on the game again and he took a moment to consider what she was up to. He finally captured her rook with his knight. "And do you keep your promises?"

She raised an eyebrow. "You're questioning my word?"

"You didn't give me your word," he argued. "You made a promise. There's a difference and one a spy probably keeps in mind."

"Some could argue there is no difference," she pointed out.
