It wasn't July in winter in Central, in fact, it was freezing cold and most of the streets were covered in a few inches of snow. It made the drive back from the station slower than usual and Roy's shoulder was aching from sitting cramped up behind the steering wheel. He should have gotten his chauffeur to drive, but then it seemed cruel to make the man come out there on a Sunday.
"I managed not to kill your tree," he said as he led Aly into the house, grateful for the warmth inside the house. Going straight up to the bedroom and not coming out of bed for the next few days sounded like a good plan. Shame there were no holidays in Central and he'd have to get up the next morning.
